The Colony at Bandon Cove wins Multi-Housing News national Design Excellence award.
The Colony at Bandon Cove recently won in the Low Rise category at the Multi-Housing News' Design Excellence Awards. Myhre Group Architects performed architectural and interior design for the project.
Comprising 18 rowhouse and duplex units, The Colony at Bandon Cove is perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Bandon, Oregon. The architecture features high-quality, traditional building materials, like Western red cedar, best suited for the severe weather conditions of the Oregon Coast. Metal-clad shed roofs help minimize the overall height and protect against the harsh coastal elements. Large expanses of windows offer spectacular ocean views.
Interior spaces marry the architecture with a reflection of the natural environment surrounding the site; they feature environmentally-conscious materials such as bamboo flooring, wool carpet, and cement/recycled glass. Entry areas have gardenscapes designed with native plants. The overall effect is a well-designed garden resort community with incredible ocean views, appropriate in scale and quality for the surroundings.
