Myhre Group Architects was responsible for the planning and architectural design of this four-story mixed-use apartment building in Northeast Portland, Oregon. The project is constructed of steel, wood framing and heavy timber. It consists of 44 units plus 2,400 square feet of ground floor retail space for a total of 30,000 square feet on a 10,000-square foot site. Situated in the heart of the Mississippi Neighborhood, the building takes aesthetic cues from its historical surroundings. With elements such as articulated cornices accentuated by painted dentils and a brick lower façade, the Bijou Apartments seamlessly blend local style with modern amenities and comforts. The project was completed in June 2014.
