Myhre Group Architects was responsible for the adaptive re-use of an existing bank building on Northeast MLK Blvd. In the redesign, the intent was to maximize the efficiency of the existing structure while creating an attractive, leasable retail space. To capitalize on the original use of the space, openings were designed as though someone had blasted their way into the vault, exposing the interior of the vault and vault door to view from the street. Simultaneously this creates a dynamic landmark and signature for future tenants and the neighborhood. In addition to providing a second floor in the double-height space, a courtyard was designed to daylight the basement.
